Buy and Sell on eBay Alternatives to Save Money
Love eBay? If you answered yes you’re not alone. Hate eBay? If you answered yes, you guessed it, you’re not the alone either. Love it or hate it, eBay is a major force that neither online bargain hunters nor online retailers could afford to ignore.
Regardless, have you ever wondered if other websites similar to eBay existed? The answer simply put is yes!
If you are looking to purchase online, to truly know you are getting the best deals you have to do some serious comparison shopping. eBay is a great place to start, but there are other websites that offer an alternative to eBay that you may want to check out.
I sold items on eBay for over five years; most of these years as an individual but I also spent one year selling as a business owner. As an individual, I didn’t mind the fees I had to pay to list my items and have them sell. However, as an online retailer these fees quickly started to eat at my profits finally resulting in my eBay store closure. I decided to build my own online store and after making sure it was Search Engine Optimized and well marketed I reaped very impressive results, without eBay’s help.
If you rather not start your own online store or if you would like to continue selling on a popular site like eBay to benefit from their web traffic but you hate paying these pesky eBay fees you’re in luck. I’ve compiled a list of top auction sites; this list resulted from my own research that spanned over a couple months. Many of these eBay alternatives offer totally free listings. I am predicting that a few of these websites (if not bought out by eBay) could become the eBays of the future. Simply put, when eBay charges its retailers high fees, this translates into higher prices for the consumer or it cuts into the retailers’ profit. Both are good reason for both shoppers and retailers to look somewhere else for alternatives to eBay that are more affordable.
One major factor, besides cost, is how much web traffic these eBay alternatives receive. To help you out with this, I’ve listed all the websites below in order based on Alexa’s ranking (i.e. their popularity) . You will see the Site’s name, URL, and right next Alexa’s rating as of June 2007 (when I conducted this research).
